Welcome Hermosa Beach!!

We are really excited about educating our parents and students about how to be more earth-friendly.

Are you all working on your Go Green Challenges??  All students that complete 25 tasks from our Go Green Challenge will be invited for an after school  Go Green sno cone party.   Encourage your student to be creative with the challenge!  Students can add their own green tasks.  Best idea will win a lunchtime ice cream party for themselves and 3 friends.  Forms are available in class and must be returned to teachers by May 22nd.  To print a copy of our Go Green Challenge, click below.

The last day to enter the walk to school contest is Tuesday, April 21st.  For an entry form, click here.

Please note that View Students can not ride bikes to school and must be accompanied by an adult when walking.

We have reduced our trash at Valley School by 50%.  Congratulations!!!!!

Tuesday, January 20th at Valley School, we started Littlerless Lunches everyday.

With assistance from Planet Pals volunteers, students are learning to reduce trash and make eco-friendly choices with the trash they do have through reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting.  Many students are participating in our classroom volunteer contest.  Each day, any student who volunteers with us at the trash free station earns a point for their classroom.  The classroom with the most points by spring break will win an ice cream party.

Any students bringing a Trash Free Lunch on Tuesday will be entered in a raffle to win dessert for themselves and 3 friends delivered by Planet Pals!!!  Winners will be announced at the end of each month.

Praise your student for their contrivbution in this wonderful program.  Whether you student packs a trash-free lunch everyday, or recycles a water bottle and paper bag from a sack lunch, or recycles a hot lunch tray and composts leftover fruits, it is making a HUGE difference in the amount of trash that goes to our landfills.

Biking to school has increased 300%.  We encourage all students to walk and bike to school and join us for Walk to School Wednesday!!!  If you can't walk to school or find a Walkpool, try to carpool with neighbors and friends.  It saves you time and kids LOVE riding, or walking with friends!!

We hope our kids and parents will find these new programs fun and rewarding!  Interested in helping with Planet Pals...contact ebethriley@verizon.net.
